Philippe Binard joined the fresh fruit and
vegetables business in 1987, working since the beginning of its career for the
European fruit and vegetables Association in Brussels. Since 2001, he is the
General Delegate of Freshfel Europe , the European Association representing the
interest of the whole fresh fruit and vegetables sector. Freshfel (
www.freshfel.org ) incorporates more than 200 members (associations and
companies) across the fresh produce supply chain from production down to
retail.
Philippe Binard is also since 2001 the
Secretary General of WAPA (World Apple and Pear Association
-www.wapa-association.org) which gathers 18 leading apple and pear production
countries around the world from both the Northern and Southern Hemisphere.
During his career, Philippe Binard was also
occupied other positions such as General Delegates of CIMO (European Fresh
Fruit and Vegetables Importers Association) from 1992 to 2001, Secretary
General of ECSLA (European Cold Storage and Logistics Association – www.ecsla.be) from 1989 to 2002 as well as Secretary General of
ECBTA ( European Community Banana trade Association) from 1993 to 2010 and Secretary General of
SHAFFE ( Southern Hemisphere Association of fresh fruit exporters ) from 1994
to 2019 .
Philippe BINARD (Belgian nationality, born
in 1961) has a legal background from the University of Leuven (1984). He
completed his education with several trainings (from 1984 to 1987) including
with the European Commission.
