Jun Chen received the B.Sc. degree in microelectronics from Nankai University, Tanjing, China in 1988 and the M.Sc. and Ph. D. degrees, both in physics, from Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, China in 1991 and 2004, respectively. He joined Sun Yat-sen University in 1991, and he is presently a full professor in the School of Electronics and Information Technology. His areas of research include cold-cathode materials and electron source, flat-panel X-ray source, optoelectronic detector and energy conversion devices. He has published more than 300 peer-reviewed papers in scientific journals. He was the recipient of National Science Fund of China for Distinguished Young Scholars. He was also the winner of the 2nd Prize of National Natural Science Award of China both in 2001 and 2007.
