LIU Feng, Ph.D. (Finance)

Dr. Liu is currently the Chief Economist in China Galaxy Securities Co. and has been an Adjunct Professor of Finance at Desautels Faculty of Management of McGill University. Dr. Liu is also an Adjunct Research Fellow at the China Corporate Governance Research Institute of Nankai University, the Executive Deputy Director of the Green Finance Cooperation Committee of Asian Financial Cooperation Association, the Associate Director of the Asian Financial Think Tank, the Director of the Chief Economist Cooperation Committee of Securities Association of China and the founding member of China Macroeconomic Think Tank Alliance of National Development and Reform Commission.

Previously, Dr. Liu was the Head of Research Institute in China Galaxy Securities Co., the founding Chairman of Modern International Financial Standards (Shanghai) Co., the Secretary General at the Financial Planning Standards Board China. (FPSB China), the Deputy Secretary General of the Financial Standards Committee of China Financial Education Development Foundation. Dr. Liu has served as an independent Board Director in China Galaxy Securities Co., Qilu Bank, Oriental Fund Management Co. and the Shoujins Assets Trading Information Service Co. He has also served as a Vice President in Canadian Chinese Finance Association.

Dr. Liu had successively been full time faculty member in Tianjin University, University of Windsor, Nanyang Technological University and McGill University. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor or Postgraduate supervisor in the Graduate School of the People's Bank of China (now the PBC School of Finance at Tsinghua University), Nankai University, Renmin University of China, Central University of Finance and Economics, Tsinghua University and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.

Dr. Liu was the Chief Editor and Author of the first edition of Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Text book “Investment Planning” in China. He was also the Author of the book “The logic of Financial Planning”. Dr. Liu was a recipient of Science & Technology Progress Prize by State Education Commission of China (1987), AAII Best Paper Award in Investments (1996) by Midwest Financial Association (USA) and Best Paper Award in Global Finance Association 2002 Annual Conference. Dr. Liu was also awarded as the 2017 Most Valuable Independent Board Director in the listed companies in Chinese Stock Markets by 21st Century Business Herald; the Annual Most Influential Financier by Asia Capital Golden Orientation Award 2018, and 2019 Outstanding Achieving Individual of China Capital Market by EMIS and CEIC; the Outstanding Contribution Award (2009-2018) by the Forbes China Financial Planner Competition.

Dr. Liu received a Ph.D. in Finance from John Molson Business School of Concordia University in Canada, a B.Eng. of Civil Engineering and a M.Sc. of Management from Tianjin University.
