During the 2023 Leadership Summit organized by the ACS Committee on International Activities (IAC), the ACS International Chemical Sciences Chapter of Southwestern China proposed the creation of an inaugural Asia-Pacific Students' Poster Competition. This idea garnered strong support from several ACS International Sciences Chapters, as well as faculty members from India, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand. Together, they established a preparatory-steering committee to initiate, plan, and oversee the entire event.
After a numerous online meetings and negotiation, a date was chosen: March 20-23, 2024, and the venue was set at Pu'er University in Yunnan Province, China. So far, over 20 universities from China and other Asian-Pacific countries have expressed their commitment to participating in this inaugural event. The theme is: "Green Pu'er and Many Flavors of Chemistry". The title of the competition is "2024 ACS International Sciences Chapters Inaugural Asia-Pacific Regional Higher Education Students’ Academic Poster Competition"
The primary goal of this competition is to foster and acknowledge exceptional accomplishments among university students across the Asia-Pacific region within the realms of scientific research and innovation. It aims to create a platform where these students can exhibit their work, engage in knowledge exchange, and gain recognition for their contributions.
