Beijing Rubber Industry Research & Design Institute Co., Ltd. (BRDI), formerly known as the Beijing Rubber Industry Research and Design Institute, was founded in 1955. It is the earliest national institute of rubber research and development of China. As a National High-Tech Enterprise and a National “Little Giant” Enterprise specializing in niche sectors, it has been authorized by the State Council to grant Master’s degrees in materials science and to host a Postdoctoral Scientific Research Workstation. The Institute is home to several national platforms, including the National Rubber & Tire Quality Testing Center, the China Tire Compulsory Certification Laboratory, and the National & Local Joint Engineering Laboratory for Chemical Energy Saving Process Integration and Resource Utilization. It holds a number of top-level qualifications, such as Class A certification for chemical engineering design and Class A certification for engineering supervision. It is the host organization for the Rubber institute of the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China and the Technical Committee for Tyres and Rims of Road Vehicles‌ (‌SAC/TC 19)‌. It also publishes three scientific journals: 《China Rubber Industry》《Tire Industry》《Rubber Science and Technology》. Currently, focusing on its five core business sectors—Electromechanics, Rubber, Testing, Science & Technology Services, and Engineering—the Institute is deeply advancing its four major development strategies: “innovation-driven growth , service extension, business model innovation, and internal-external synergy.” Committed to digital transformation and deep integration of the industrial chain, it aims to build a high-end product cluster and establish a full life-cycle service system.
